New projects on Palm Jumeirah

The Pointe Nakheel has started construction works of the long-awaited Dh800 million The Pointe shopping and leisure project on the Palm Jumeirah. Nakheel had awarded the contract for ground preparation for the 136,000 square metre retail and entertainment complex on the topmost branch of the Palm opposite the Atlantis Hotel to Freyssinet Gulf. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2016. The Pointe will include shops, restaurants, cafes and leisure facilities, and dancing fountains.

Another Nakheel’s project is a Nakheel Mall that will comprise about 200 shops, including a 4,200 sq metre supermarket and two anchor department stores, a nine-screen cinema and six medical clinics. There will also be an outdoor roof plaza with cafes and restaurants. The Mall will include a 180-metre high viewing deck with panoramic views of the Palm Jumeirah and the Dubai skyline. This project is scheduled to be completed in 2016 as well.

Dubai Safari Park
Hundreds of animals, birds and other creatures living in enclosures in the existing Dubai Zoo in Jumeirah will be relocated to the new safari park. Dubai Safari, which will replace the Dubai Zoo, will be located in Al Warqa 5 on a 400 hectares site and include a safari park, a butterfly park, golf courses, plus entertainment and recreational areas. The Safari will be divided into four different sections — African, Asian and Arabian Villages and an open safari — for animals coming from different geographical locations, with architecture and landscaping to match. The project is estimated to cost Dh150 million ($40.1mln.).
