Dubai Festival of Lights
Dubai Festival of Lights organized in partnership with the City of Lyon’s Festival of Lights (Fête des Lumières de Lyon), will be held from 20 March to 29 March and the venue will be the community of Downtown Dubai.
The Festival of Lights in Dubai will be a celebration of spectacular illuminations. This is the first time that such an event will be held in Dubai. To set the event in Dubai apart, however, the use of energy efficient lighting would be made. A total area of 120 hectare in the Downtown Dubai community is all set to be used for the purpose. Other parts of the city like the Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, the Dubai Fountain, Souk al Bahar, the Address Downtown Hotel, the Palace Downtown Hotel as well as the Burj Plaza and Emaar Square will also be adorned with beautiful lights to mark this event. The entire area will be covered with lights and accessories that have been specially designed and brought to the city for the event.
The best part about this event is that the lighting done in each area of the city will be completely different from each other. Adding to the splendor of the event is the fact that this event will bring forth many new concepts in the field of energy and power. The tourism industry will also benefit from this event as it is targeted by the organizers to attract many more tourists to Dubai.
New music event in Dubai — BLENDED
Blended, the unique two-day brand new music event starts on Thursday 01 May 2014 at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre.
Created to appeal to music lovers, Blended brings together a mix of blues, roots, jazz, soul & folk and will feature internationally-acclaimed global artists. Blended will feature the music mega stars such as Xavier Rudd, Joss Stone, Diana Krall and Elvis Costello.
Dubai Tourism executive director Hamad Bin Mejren said: “As part of the Tourism Vision for 2020, we are actively working to establish high quality annual events that can become synonymous with the city. Blended’s impressive line-up is another fantastic addition to our 2014 events calendar.”
