Since 12 years Ministry of Tourism of Dominican Republic successfully exhibits in OTDYKH LEISURE show choosing this event as an annual platform to meet business partners and to promote new products and services to the lucrative Russian outbound travel market.
Every year the largest hotel networks and tour operators are given an opportunity to present themselves on the stand of the Dominican Republic. Among long-term partners there are such companies as AMRESORTS, ALLIANCE RUSSIAN TRAVEL (ARTRAVEL), HARD ROCK HOTEL & CASINO PUNTA CANA, BAHIA PRINCIPE HOTELS & RESORTS and many others.
This year all the guests will also have a chance to enjoy an entertainment programme which includes performance of salsa and merengue dancers, a concert of traditional Dominican orchestra Perico Ripiao, presentation of Dominican artesian goods and a workshop session of tabaquero — Dominican cigar-maker.
In addition all the guests of the stand of the Dominican Republic will receive presents and souvenirs.
In 2014 five million tourists visited the Dominican Republic which is exactly a half of the number expected due to President Danilo Medina’s decree — 10 million tourists per year by 2022. According to Lorenzo Sancassani, Head of the Provincial Office of the Ministry of Tourism Cabarete, the tourism sector has pretty good chances to accomplish the task within the prescribed time limit.

At the moment we are really focused on developing the MICE-sector, luxury and eco-resorts as well as wedding and golf trips. In addition we are trying to promote medical tourism which is rapidly gaining popularity. The Dominican Republic has lots of amazing spa resorts and also offers a wide choice of recreation and cosmetic services. All these opportunities attract ever-growing number of tourists from Russia and other countries” says Galina Lysenko, Head of Representative Office of the Ministry of tourism of the Dominican Republic in Russia, Ukraine and CIS.
