The official opening ceremony took place in IEC “Crocus Expo” on 15 September. Among the honoured guests who welcomed the exhibitors and guests, there were:

Among the major exhibiting tour operators there were Pegas Tourisrtik, Coral Travel, Tez Tour, Anex Tour, Brisco, Art Tour, Natali Tours and many others.

Russia was represented by Arkhangelsk region, Vladimir region, Vologda region, Kaliningrad region, Krasnodar region, Moscow region, Murmansk region, Nizhny Novgorod region, Novgorod region, the Republic of Tatarstan, the Republic of Crimea, Ryazan region, Samara region, Smolensk region, Stavropol Territory, Tver region, Tula region, Yaroslavl region.

BUSINESS PROGRAMME

OTDYKH business programme was a major highlight of the show, offering over 150 co-located events.

On 15 September Sergey Shpilko, First Deputy Head of the Department for National Policy, Interregional Relations and Tourism of the Government of Moscow held a press conference. Mr. Shpilko reported how the situation had changed in the Russian tourism industry over the past year and highlighted Moscow’s development prospects in the tourism sector.

On the same day the Ministry of Entrepreneurship Development, Trade and External Relations of Kirov Region and “West Travel” tour operator signed an Agreement on Kirov region promotion as a tourist destination. Alexey Vershinin, Deputy Chairman of the Kirov Region Government and Sergey Khokhlov, president of “West Travel”, pointed out that such initiative was implemented in Russia for the first time.

On 16 September the Federal Agency for Tourism hosted the All-Russian meeting on actual issues of tourism development. After the meeting of the working group held a session on “The Silver Necklace of Russia” project and a round table on “VisitRussia — it’s time to discover Russia”.

On 16 September the Federal Agency for Tourism hosted the All-Russian meeting with the tourism authorities of the subjects of the Russian Federation on actual issues of tourism development. The meeting touched upon the Strategy of tourism development in Russia for the period up to 2020, and the large-scale advertising campaign “Visit Russia/Time to rest in Russia”. Preliminary results of the summer season, action plan for the implementation of the federal target programme on the “Development of domestic and inbound tourism in the Russian Federation (2011-2018)”, and prospects and problems of formation of military-patriotic routes and tourist programmes in large industrial complexes were discussed during the meeting as well.

During the press conference Sergey Korneev, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation announced an extensive promotional campaign for domestic tourism opportunities in 12 subjects of the Russian Federation.

During the Forum the non-profit partnership “World Without Borders” and “Tourism Development Centre of the Sverdlovsk region” signed an agreement on cooperation. It provides for an advertising promotion of tourist opportunities of Sverdlovsk Region in China and attraction of tourists from China to the Middle Urals. Sverdlovsk region in its turn undertakes to create favourable conditions for Chinese tourists.

On 17 September KobkarnVattanavrangkul, Minister of Tourism and Sportsof Thailand, attended the exhibition with an official visit.

The role of a travel agency in the modern travel industry was discussed at the TBG Conference that had already become a traditional one at the exhibition’s business programme.

The Association for Assistance to Tourist Technologies held open seminars on information technology during three exhibition days in the Business Zone. LightSoft hosted several seminars on brand promotion in social networks with Top Hotels portal.

Vologda, Vladimir, Nizhny Novgorod, Kirov, Samara regions and Moscow prepared interesting entertainment programmes, as well as master classes, shows, contests, performances representing Russia’s tourism opportunities.

The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts hosted a round table dedicated to cooperation development between museums and travel companies. The meeting resulted in signing cooperation agreements with several tour operators.

Being an efficient business platform, the exhibition offers travel companies to conduct special presentations to attract the most of the target audience. “Natali Tours” hosted a series of master classes dedicated to Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, the Caribbean and the Canary Islands, European sightseeing tours, ski resorts in Austria, Italy and Andorra; wellness tours to Czech Republic and Hungary, and sea cruises.

“Space Travel” jointly with Jordan Tourism Board, “Havanatur” jointly with the Ministry of Tourism of Cuba, Emirates Airlines jointly with Ras Al Khaimah Emirate presented their destinations.

National tourism offices of Serbia, China, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) demonstrated the travel opportunities of their countries and destinations to the exhibitors and guests of the show.

At the Gala Reception dedicated to the exhibition openingOTDYKH partners: the National Tourist Organization of Serbia, St. Peter Line cruise company, Simple Travel tour operator, Stage Entertainment company, “Dagomys” and “Klyazma” health resorts, “Pokrovsky Pryanik” company, Sofrino Park Hotel and Vertua warded OTDYKH exhibitors with commemorative gifts.

INTERNATIONAL IT CONFERENCE “BUSINESS CASE TOUR FROFI 2.0”

The 4th International IT Conference in tourism “Business case tour profi 2.0” took place on 17 September, attracting 15 speakers and 230 delegates.

Traditionally, the Conference speakers represented online portals, search systems, social networks, software developers and companies that use modern information technologies for tourism product promotion.

Online tools for the travel industry were presented by the Department for National policy, Interregional Relations and Tourism of the Government of Moscow, Mail.ru Group, OK.RU (Odnoklassniki), Megatek, Samo-Soft, “Sobaka Pavlova” blog. INNA TOUR and KITT Ltd uncovered the opportunities of dynamic packaging.

Web Palace demonstrated their vision of the company’s website as a market place. Methods for tracking all website requests to optimize travel agency marketing were presented by Calltouch. Toptriptip introduced their mobile guides.

“Appex” spoke about integrated solution for payments receiving in travel industry. Representatives of “Aviakassa.ru” discussed the future prospects of online travel agencies with Conference delegates.

The Conference was supported by Excursiopedia, Web Palace and “Voroshilova and Partners” agency.

During the Conference the delegates had an access to MeYou online business networking for making acquaintances, view speakers’ presentations, and participation in the polls.

“YOU AND YOUR FUTURE” CONFERENCE

For two years the Conference has attracted more than 14 high schools and universities training specialists for tourism industry. In 2015 the Conference was attended by over 200 students of high schools, including Yu. A. Senkevich Moscow State Institute of the Tourism Industry, People’s Friendship University, Sholokhov Moscow State University for Humanities, Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth and Tourism, Russian New University, Russian State Social University and others.

Olga Demakova, SuperJob business coach opened the Conference.This year the speaker highlighted the principles of the proper resume preparation, spoke about the specifics of job searching in the current situation, establishing contacts with the employer, as well as internship opportunities in tourism.

Karina Yakovleva, Business Travel Job general director spoke about trends and needs of the tourism market, and provided the current snapshot of salaries. Basing on her experience and real cases, the speaker presented an overview of current labour market in tourism industry, namely what employers expected from the applicants, what professional competence was required and where to get training. The speaker ended her report with a quiz, and the winners received prizes from the organizers and partners.

The final report was made by Natalya Biryukova, director of Centre of professional qualifications of “Tsaritsyno” college. Today no educational establishment trains staff for business meetings, and Moscow needs such specialists in order to attract more international events to the city. Exhibition and Convention Bureau of the City of Moscow and “Tsaritsyno” colleague had implemented a joint training programme of “Business events organization”.

In the context of the geographical re-orientation of MICE events, reduction of travel and event budgets, we witness a growing demand for finding new partners, platforms and trends, as well as to exchange the experience and to familiarize with the latest trends in the meetings industry. The 11th International Exhibition OTDYKH MICE was aimed to fulfil these goals.

EXPOSITION

This year,as never before Russia was represented as a business travel destination. Among the exhibitors there were MICE and DMC agencies: MICE Global, RCS Mice-Solutions, Fordewind (Sochi), Albatros (Crimea), and other companies, offering a full range of services for MICE events organizing.

A minimal package of conference services includes a meeting room rental and catering. Many hotels, both small and large offer and develop this service. Among them — the exhibitors from the Crimea: “More” boarding house, “Palmira Palace”, “Soldaya Grand Hotel & Resort”; “GRINN” (Orel), “Zavidovo” (Tver region), Croatia resorts: Avala Resort & Villas and Bianca Resort & Spa, “Aivengo” country club, “Jungle” hotel (Moscow), and many others.

“Visit Sochi” Convention Bureau demonstrated infinite business travel opportunities of the region. Asia Adventures offered a full package of MICE services in Uzbekistan.

The work in the exhibition started with blitz presentations for direct clients — the participants of the Corporate Buyer Programme. In 2015 among the corporate clients of the show there were representatives of Avon, Inversia, Video International, X5Retail Group, Volvo, MTS, Scientific & Industrial Valve Manufacturers Association, Philips, Rosshina, Russian Biofuels Association, Sollers, and others.

CONFERENCE

OTDYKH MICE International Conference has been a central event of the show for many years. This year the keynote theme of the Conference that took place on 15 September was “Meetings industry outlook global”. Its programme was formed basing on the demands of the market players. This year the most actual topic was the development of the MICE-sector in the domestic market. The Conference was attended by 70 delegates. The opening addresses of Anatoliy Kuryumov (IBC Corporate Travel) and Alexanrda Zager (Business Travel), the Conference moderator were dedicated to the meeting industry evolution and its future trends.

An open dialogue dedicated to the MICE development in the regions of Russia and cconsolidated efforts of government and business community took place within the Conference. Among the discussion participants there were Anna Chetvergova, director of Saint Petersburg Convention Bureau, Yulia Skorokhodova, chairman of the board of Yaroslavl Convention Bureau, general director of “Volga-Tour”, Sergey Rygov, director of MICE Market (Samaraintour service group). Almost all participants agreed that in order to promote Russia successfully on the international market, and for the development of the domestic market, it is necessary to consolidate the efforts of the regional Convention Bureaus. In addition, a number of issues can be solved only on the governmental level, includingeasing visa regime for certaintourist categories.

Oksana Trofimova-Nidental, the executive director of Ekaterinburg Convention Bureau also stressed the need to join efforts for a more efficient work.

Tatiana Spurnova (MaxMedium) underlined that Russia became a trendy MICE destinations. In her report she presented an overview of opportunities, formats and ideas for business events. Katarina Srbljanin from Serbian Convention Bureau spoke about MICE in Serbia, and Sergey Kanayev (Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing) presented MICE opportunities in Dubai.

The reports of Maria Sergeeva (“Otkritie” Financial Corporation Bank) on travel policy and procurement strategy and Dmitry Shangin (RCS) on corporate event technologies aroused a great interest of the audience.A non-standard report on efficient presentationpreparationforpublic events was presented by Gleb Shulishov (Prosto Preza). Gleb is a life coach and presentations stage manager. Together with partners he had trained speakers for three TEDxSadovoeRing conferences in Moscow.

Anton Matveev (Big Tree marketing company) and Farkhod Tashtemirov (Dedeman Izmailovo Moscow) made their reports at the final session “Impeccable service as a successful sales factor”.

MICE GLOBAL, the regular exhibitor of OTDYKH MICE conducted a “Travel Rally” quest in the exhibition halls. During the quest the teams competed in speed, intelligence and, of course, teambuilding.

The growing demand of Russian tourists for medical and health tours in different countries, including Russia has influenced the formation of a separate travel industry segment, represented at the 11th International exhibition OTDYKH Medical Tourism, Spa & Health.

EXPOSITION

Health care services, including diagnosis and rehabilitation for children and adults, were presented by “Medicine”, the Russian multi-profile centre, as well as by clinics from Israel and Tunisia at the stand of Alternativa Medical Group, CMS Korea DH Plastic Surgery clinic, Dongnam Institute of Radiological and Medical Sciences, Turkish clinic Medicadent, Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, and others.

Recreation and wellness programmes, alternative treatment methods were presented by Chakra Ayurvedic Resort (India), Thai Pattara Center (Thailand), Palanga Spa Hotel and Spa Vilnius (Lithuania), Medical tourism cluster of Lithuania, “Taiji” sanatorium, “Long-liver” clinic, Welna Eco Spa resort and other exhibitors.

Russian resorts were widely demonstrated at the show, including treatment and resort centres of Altai, Caucasian Mineral Waters, the Black Sea coast, Krasnodar Territory, the Republic of Crimea, Svetlogorsk, Ural and the Volga region, as well as health resort associations like “RZHD-Zdorovye” and “Profkurort”. Over 20 Russian sanatoriums represented quality services, unique treatment methods and natural factors.

A series of open seminars of OTDYKH Medical Tourism, Spa & Health exhibitors were running on 17 September. All exhibitors and visitors were welcome to get information about unique offers of clinics, resort and treatment centres from Russia and abroad.

CONFERENCE

One of the key events of the exhibition is the 11th International Conference OTDYKH Medical Tourism, SPA & Health that took place on 16 September and attracted over 60 delegates. The Conference moderator was Nadezhda Manshina, an independent health tourism expert, who made a report on health tourism development in modern conditions, and what travel agency managers should know about health resort treatment.

Konstantin Onishchenko (Alternativa Medical Group) spoke about outbound medical tourism in Russia. The ways how a clinic from abroad can reach clients in Russia were highlighted by Victoria Sadalyuk (Topmedclinic).

The “Health tourism without barriers” session included the following reports:

  • Affordability of medical and health tourism for people with disabilities. Standardization of requirements, information availability andreliability. Creatinga specialproduct,peculiarities andthe necessity for a social support (Natalia Krel, technical expert in barrier-free environment formation, member of the working groupof the Presidential Commissionfor the Disabled, the National Paradelphic Committee of Russia)
  • Infrastructural support for affordable tourism in the Crimea (Maryna Ryndach, Assistant professor of the Department of Management and Tourism of the Humanitarian and Education Academy of V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University)
  • Barrier-free environment in the health resorts of the Russian Trade Unions (Maxim Kurgin, General Director, CJSC “SKO FNPR “Profkurort”)

The exhibitors from Serbia — Atomic Spa, Prolom Banja and Lukovska Banja resorts, as well as “RZHD-Zdorovye” presented their recreational opportunities. A representative of “Medicine” clinic spoke about the modern beam therapy opportunities.

Samer Mazahreh (Salamatak Medical Tourism Facilitator) represented the luxury medical services in Dubai Healthcare City.

Medical tourism cluster of Lithuania spoke in detail about their achievements. Representatives of “Long-liver” clinic uncovered the opportunities of rehabilitation and recreation with the help of traditional Chinese medicine.

The Conference delegates attended the training of “Vivat Zdorovye” marketing agency on promotion of health resorts through physicians of city hospitals and medical online portals, and efficient sales of health tours.

The Conference was ended by the master class on how to choose a resort for the client presented by the Conference moderator.

OTDYKH Luxury International Exhibitionrepresents the exclusive offers of international and Russian travel agencies dealing with dealing with individual VIP tours, unique resorts, luxury hotels, destinations and other luxury travel segment.

EXPOSITION

The stands of Slavian Tours (Brazil) and Luxury SPA Boutique Hotel Opera Palace (Czech Republic) made the core of the exposition.

Most of the VIP area was occupied by Gourmet & Wine Travel section. An ambitious programme of food & wine tours to the best wineries of France, Spain, Armenia, Serbia and Georgia was presented at the stand of “Simple Travel”, which also sponsored the Italian cooking master class.

“Pokrovsky Pryanik” shared detailed information about a sweet tour to Pokrov. During the guided factory tour all guests can explore the production process in interactive way, taste various toppings and participate in master classes on making old Russian gingerbread.

“BreadSalt” magazine and cooking studio hosted a series of cooking master classes that were very popular by the visitors.

“TASTEFUL JEORNEY” COOKING MASTER CLASSES

Cooking master classes are the most interesting way to present the gourmet opportunities of different countries. This year among the participating countries there were United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Georgia, Armenia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Indonesia, Thailand, Italy, Dominican Republic andRussia.

Every master class had a partner who in parallel with cooking spoke about the best food & wine destinations and culinary routes of the region.

The exhibitors and visitors had a unique chance to meet Alexander Seleznev, pastry chef and anchor of “Sweet Stories” programme on “Domashniy” TV, Gayane Breiova, TV presenter and owner of Gayane’s and “Panaehali!” restaurants, Marcel Navratil, chef of “Slovak House” restaurant in Moscow, Goran Velcovic, chef of Square Nine Hotel Belgrade, Andrea Galli, author of culinary books, Italian cuisine expert, Zahid Mohammed, chef of Tajj Mahal restaurant and many others.
