MATIWMATIW 2011: full satisfaction from participation in the most global 2B2 tourism and travel event in Russia

Russia’s largest autumn tourism event MATIW Moscow Autumn Travel Industry Week was held 21 — 24 September 2011 in the International Exhibition Centre «Crocus Expo», Moscow.

MATIW is a global event for the tourism industry in Russia as it consists of three professional exhibitions and two annual specialized conferences. Following annual events were again held as part of MATIW:

Organized by Euroexpo (Moscow, Russia) and Euroexpo Exhibitions & Congress Development GmbH (Vienna, Austria) this event is fully supported by the Ministry of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy of the Russian Federation, the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, and the Russian Union of Tourism Industry.

The exhibitions were officially opened by the Deputy Minister of Sport, Tourism and Youth policy of the Russian Federation Ms. Nadezhda Nazina, the Head of the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation Mr. Alexander Radkov and a number of high officials from Russian and international tourism authorities and associations.

Mr. Mutko, the Minister of Sport Tourism and Youth Policy of the Russian Federation, described MATIW as «the main platform for presentations and communication which brings together professionals from all spheres of the tourism industry».

MATIW 2011 hosted 1500 exhibiting companies from 83 countries of the world, more then 60 000 visited the event within 4 days, 24 958 of them were unique pre-registered professionals.

17th International Trade Fair for Tourism and Travel

21 — 24 September 2011, Hall 2, 3&4, Pavilion 1, Crocus Expo

Well known as the most important tourism event in autumn in Russia, Otdykh LEISURE again proved its status of a must attend event. Exhibitors were satisfied with a new format of three B2B days and one last B2C day which allowed many exhibitors to deal with the end customers directly.

For the first time a pre-arranged online appointment system was implemented for Otdykh LEISURE. The decision of the Organizer to introduce the system was welcomed by both exhibitors and visitors and was definitely a good start for this impotent innovation.

1359 companies (647 Russian and 712 International) exhibited this year on 21 000 sq.m of exhibition space. 74 countries were represented, majority of them with prominent national stands, such as Andorra, Argentina, Brasil, Dominican Republic, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Spain, Malaysia, Mexico, Oman, Thailand, Turkey, Philippines, Sri Lanka and many more.

For the first time national stands were organized by Cambodia, Colombia, Ras al Khaimah, Japan and Morocco. Singapore and Venezuela returned to the show after skipping last year’s edition, and Mauritius stand moved from LUXURY Leisure to Otdykh LEISURE this year.

For the first time a joined stand was organized by the Federal Passenger Service RZD — Russian Railways and international airlines alliance SKY TEAM. TEZ Tour again organized its own pavilion TEZ World and brought together partner hotels from all destination offered by this major tour operator.

Leading tour operators and key players of the tourism industry presented their winter programs and packages for new destinations; among them were TUI, Natalie Tours, Yuzhnij Krest, Vand International, Intourist, Danko, Coral Travel, Pac Group, Anex, Accent and many others.

Traditionally, the National Tourist Company INTOURIST was a strategic partner of Otdykh LEISURE, and LANTA TUR Voyage became an official sponsor of the special projects of the show.

This year tour operators and tourism industry players had an opportunity to visit an official stand of the Russian Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation and to get all required information regarding business — government relationship.

Record number of Russian Regional Tourism Administrations and suppliers exhibited this year. The growing participation of Russian regions reflects rapidly growing demand for inbound and domestic travel, and great interest of regional companies and tourism administrations to present their unique products to Russian and international buyers. Almost all Russian regions were exhibiting, among them Sochi, Karelia, Krasnodar region, Golden Ring cities and many others.

Traditional Exhibitor party took place on the first day of the show. Otdykh LEISURE awards for support of the show and engagement of the Russian market were presented to Intourist company, Sky Team, Transaero Tour, Tez Tour, Academservice, TUI Russia and CIS, Vand international, RZD Health, Niko Travel Group, Siberians Transfer Corporation, Proexport Colombia, Japan National Tourism Office, Turespana, Venezuela Tourism Board, India Tourism and Sri Lanka Tourism Board.

Busy business program of the show included master classes, press conferences and seminars organized by national and regional tourism boards, tour operations, hotel chains etc.

The first practical conference «Modern instruments for branding of Russian regions and cities» was organized by Euroexpo and by the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation; it was definitely one of the highlights along with All Russian Forum for Innovations in Tourism, seminars on tourism technologies by ASTT, round tables and trainings by RosBusinessConsulting and RBG Media Group. Great interest was shown to a practical seminar «Social networking as a new marketing tool» organized by MATIW PR- Partner «Carte Blanche».

On Thursday 22 September 2011, The Ritz-Carlton Moscow hosted the culminating Gala ceremony of My Planet Travel Awards. Over 200 guests, with prominent tourism industry experts, celebrities and journalist attended the event to find out who and what — according to the Russian voting public — are the best in the world of travel and tourism.

6th International exhibition for Luxury and Exclusive Travel

LUXURY Leisure is the only exhibition in Russia specialized on exclusive travel and high end accommodation and services. 67 companies from 22 countries exhibited in LUXURY Leisure 2011. Exhibiting companies originated from countries such as Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Latvia, Lithuania, Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, Slovenia, Spain, Tunisia, USA etc.

The topic of LUXURY Leisure has become extremely important for the Russian Tourism Market which has experienced a rising demand for exclusive tourism services. Individual tourism, wellness and medical programs, exclusive adventures, first class transportation services and many other luxurious services are requested more and more among Russian Tourists. A new trend for Medical Tourism was fully integrated into the structure of LUXURY Leisure — a special SPA & HEALTH Area with small spa- friendly designed stands was created inside LUXURY Leisure exhibition area.

Jamaica Tourism Board, The Leela Palaces and Resorts, Crown Tours Maldives, Intour Maldives, 100% Maldives etc. were among repeated exhibitors who take part year by year and well realize the importance of cultivating their business relationship with Russian partners by continuous participation in this event. LUXURY Leisure also welcomed some famous newcomers, among them Falkensteiner Hotels and Residences, Savoy West End Hotel Prague etc.

The annual SPA & Heath Conference was a part of outstanding parallel program. It was moderated by Ms Nadezhda Manshina, Deputy Director of the Nonprofit Partnership «Sankurtur» Sanatorium and Health Resort Association; international and Russian experts took part and discussed latest developments and trends on the rapidly growing market of health travel services. Renowned speakers from Slovenia, India, Slovakia, Germany and Estland and Hungary educated Russian delegates on innovations in medical travel, how to choose the right destination and how traditional healing methods can be applied in modern spa resorts worldwide. SPA & Health was again an excellent platform to meet leading experts and practitioners from the field of SPA, Health and Medical travel.

MIBEXPO RUSSIA 2011

7th International Meeting Industry and Business Travel Exhibition & Conference

21 — 23 September 2011, Hall 1, Pavilion 1, Crocus Expo

7th edition of MIBEXPO RUSSIA again proved its status of the most global mice industry event on the Russian market. This international forum offered a unique opportunity to meet corporate and agency buyers from Moscow and Russian regions and to exchange know how at the annual conference, which was supported by Russian and international industry associations and key players of the market.

74 companies from 15 countries exhibited this year and presented mice services to specially invited buyers. Steigenberger Hotel Group, HRS, Rome Congress Centre, Gulf Adventures from UAE, great number of Russian congress venues and business hotels such as iris Congress Hotel, Vega Hotel & Convention Centre and many others were among exhibitors at this year’s MIBEXPO exhibition.

With its special corporate buyer program for Russian buyers, MIBEXPO Russia 2011 again exclusively offered its exhibitors a chance to meet key players of the market and provided access to the lucrative Russian Market.

The 7th International Conference «Business Meetings Industry 2020: Face the Future» was definitely the highlight of MIBEXPO 2011. Moderated by Yuri Sarapkin, the conference attracted over 100 delegates. Speakers from conventions bureaus, hotels, PCO’s etc talked about most exciting topics like problems in the relationship of corporate customers with professional organizers (by Roman Gorohov, Company Director of Nicko Travel Group and Elena Melnikova, General Director of the company MaxiMICE), marketing, innovations of organizational support for conference agreement (by Valery Simakov, General Director of «Momomax Congress-Services» LLC), hosting of international sport events on example of Brasil (by Ralph Smaha, Iguassu Convention & Visitors Bureau) and so on.
