Half Moon, Jamaica - participating for the first time at LUXURY Leisure 2010

One of the Most Outstanding Resorts in the World

Half Moon is one of the finest resorts in the world. With its 400 beautifully manicured acres, 398 unique accommodations, numerous recreational facilities, shopping village, varied cuisine, and a conference center, Half Moon is a destination in itself.

Winner of numerous awards for excellence (see attached list), Half Moon offers the highest standards throughout the resort. Half Moon continues to demonstrate its quest for excellence in its recent investment of $15.5 million to further enhance and update the resort.

It is noteworthy that Half Moon has been awarded four diamonds by AAA for over 27 consecutive years – the only resort in the Caribbean to have earned such an achievement.

In addition, Half Moon is the leader in the Caribbean in ecological projects and is the first hotel to be inducted into the Caribbean Hotel Association’s Green Hotel Hall of Fame. Its preservation program includes recycling, waste management, composting and energy conservation. The resort also maintains a 20-acre nature reserve and along with a vibrant herb and vegetable garden as well as an array of fruit trees.

Accommodations at Half Moon have an air of elegant informality with a blend of native island style. Furnishings are Queen Anne and Chippendale reproductions, made at the resort by local craftsmen in Jamaican Mahogany and highlighted by coordinated prints. The plantation-style buildings lend a cool, crisp touch to the lush green of the lawns and tropical gardens.

Guests choose accommodations from 33 four - to seven-bedroom villas, 24 superior rooms, 17 junior suites, 14 deluxe suites, 53 royal suites and 11 imperial suites. With the new Hibiscus Wing, guests can also choose from 68 beachfront one and two bedroom suites.

Thirty-two five, six and seven bedroom Royal Villas are situated along picturesque Sunrise Beach, amid lush tropical gardens. Combining the comforts of home with the personalized service of an exclusive resort, each villa is staffed with a cook, housekeeper and butler. All are decorated with cool tropical colors and offer either view of the Caribbean Sea or well-manicured gardens. Each room has its own bath, shares a living room, and some offer a spacious central library. Villa guests have the use of all resort facilities and each villa has its own swimming pool.

The 18 beachfront Royal Suites, offering the ultimate in pampered resort living, are enclosed within the Royal Court complex, which contains two large private swimming pools. Each of the spacious suites in the elegant Georgian-Colonial-style building comprises an entrance hall, large living room with terrace, and bedroom.

Some Imperial and Royal suites are in charming cottages along the western beachfront, some with its own swimming pool. Junior and deluxe suites as well as the superior and deluxe rooms can be found along the crescent-shaped beach. All accommodations include cable TV, mini-bar, air-conditioning, telephone, in-room safe, balconies or patios, hair dryer, and an ocean and / or garden view.

The new Hibiscus rooms and suites, offering a variety of deluxe rooms, junior and royal suites, are outfitted with a contemporary plantation-style theme and furnishings and feature large verandahs and balconies, data port internet access, electronic safe and other signature Half Moon amenities.

Three restaurants – the Seagrape Terrace, Sugar Mill and Il Giardino – are available for fine dining as well as additional restaurants in the shopping center. For a more informal setting, the La Baguette restaurant is located poolside at the Oleander Terrace. Additional dining options include the exotic Akbar/Thai Garden restaurant offering Indian and Thai cuisine as well as the casual Prince of Wales, an English-style pub. Entertainment includes nightly live music at the Seagrape Terrace and various excursions and sightseeing tours.

Half Moon is also home to a wide variety of sports. One of the resort’s most impressive features is the recently renovated, award winning 18-hole, par-72 championship golf course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. Half Moon also has 13 lit tennis courts, four squash courts, a croquet lawn, miniature golf and jogging trail. Water sports include windsurfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, glass bottom boat tours and 51 pools, including an Olympic-size lap pool and a “swim with the dolphins” experience.

The resort’s Fern Tree, The Spa at Half Moon™ features a variety of therapeutic treatments including facials, steam and sauna, hydro room, couples massage room and large relaxation area. The fitness center features aerobic dance, an exercise program and life-cycle equipment. Additionally, Half Moon is the first officially licensed Spinning® resort in the Caribbean. A well-maintained equestrian centre ensures top facilities for horseback riding, show jumping and dressage.

The Anancy Children’s Village features a new children’s play area modeled around a village concept with buildings ablaze with a mosaic of brightly coloured hues guaranteed to enlighten the senses of young visitors. Additionally, children of all ages will enjoy the new Roger Rulewich designed 18-hole putting course, which has been relocated adjacent to the Anancy Children’s Village. Additionally, the recently launched Hype Zone and Very Important Little Persons Service will be the delight of young adults, teens, tweens and little ones.

Half Moon’s Shopping Village, which was opened in 1994, offers fashion boutiques, gift and souvenir shops, supermarket, medical facility, pharmacy, duty-free stores, bank, beauty salon, photo studio, an English pub and a 4,650 square-foot Conference Center and a 12,000 square-foot ballroom. With meeting rooms in other areas of the resort, Half Moon has more than 26,000 square feet of meeting space.
