In June 2008 the most prestigious hotel in St Petersburg has successfully completed the third stage of its reconstruction and perfection process. After extensive restoration, 12 renovated deluxe 'Belle Chambre' rooms are once again available.
The intention of French designer Michel Jouannet was to reimagine and reinterpret the suites for discerning guests, and yet without losing the original period Russian details – antique marble fireplaces and rich stucco molding on the ceilings and walls.
Their windows look out onto the most picturesque places in St. Petersburg's historic centre — the bustling Nevsky Prospect, the tower of the city Duma (parliament) and the Gostiny Dvor historic shopping arcade.
The renovation of the Mezzanine Café's interior is complete. Now it styled on a St. Petersburg courtyard. To make the café even cozier, a marble and sandstone fireplace embellished with stucco panelling depicting classical motifs was added to the atrium.
The famous Pushkin Golden Autumn Ball will be held on October 11th 2008, at the Catherine Palace in the town of Pushkin. The most elegant and glamorous event of the fall season in St Petersburg, the Ball attracts guests from the realm of business, politics, and culture.
